Honey × Honey Dropraw

I Nuraghi, le torri di fuoco

Around the eighteenth century BC, in the early Bronze Age, was born of the People Nuraghi, mysterious civilization that lived prehistoric Sardinia.

What remains of their culture are the ruins of about 7,000 huge towers built in the sky, which give reason to believe that this population was aware of substantial construction techniques and astronomical.

Nuraghe The name derives from the Phoenician nur-hag (fire tower), probably because once these towers were completed they used to burn the structure, perhaps simply to be able to better smooth the wall, or as a rite of initiation.

It is noticeable that these structures were found only in this beautiful and mysterious island in the Mediterranean.

Although there are more or less plausible hypotheses on the construction technique is not yet clear the very purpose of these megalithic towers and the costumes are not even known of this ancient Sardinian people, bent on herding and agriculture.

As history tells us the Bronze Age was a warlike age, and many people have invaded the territory of Sardinia, so inevitably there was a fusion of various cultures.

In essence, the towers are truncated cones Nuraghi very complex, some as high as 22 meters (Sant'Antine, Torralba) consists of several megalithic stones, handmade, dry-stacked and held together with their weight, imagine that in some of the wall thickness reaches more than five meters.

is supposed to have been erected with the help of modest wooden scaffolding and a special technique: the tower was built by superimposing the stones to form a sort a spiral staircase in order to arrive la sommità con le stesse pietre precedentemente poste una sull’altra e quindi il muro veniva completato in modo trasversale ponendo alla base pietre megalitiche e in sommità pietre via via più piccole e sempre meglio lavorate.

Tra queste strutture venne left the inner courtyard.

Around this main building is the village, consisting of huts of various sizes on circular where the inhabitants probably lived.

It is assumed that the tower was a central gathering place for famous people of the village, possibly home of the village head (which we have evidence of the existence thanks to discovery of the famous "bronze" statuettes of warriors with a stick in his hand the symbol of command) and provided a safe haven in case of attack by invaders.

was partly destroyed by the Carthaginians and then subsequently used by the Romans, who "restored" by making some significant changes (rectangular huts).

This seems to be the main function of all Nuraghi.

Many however, are the inconsistencies that are present in all nuraghi niches that are more like altars, in some there is a niche in particular (Nuraghe Aiga Abbasanta) which is illuminated only during the summer solstice, and then suggests a function only of war or religious rather than just housing.

examines instead the Nuraghe Arrubiu (Red) Orroli of housing is expected to use the fact that it has been found at the center of the central tower and a fireplace in one of the towers of the secondary seeds and tools for the processing of grain and presence of combs and other accessories for everyday life.

This civilization has left evidence of their passage and then, but left many mysteries unsolved, one of which surely the intended use of the towers, the social life of the population, the highest talent and great knowledge of architecture is not unusual for the period , the astronomical knowledge related probably for religious worship.
